USCG – clarification re salvage and marine firefighting
The US Coast Guard issued a clarification regarding its salvage and marine
firefighting requirements for vessel response plans (VRPs) for oil. On
September 3, the agency announced that the Office of Management and Budget
(OMB) had approved the collection of information associated with those
requirements. The announcement also indicated that the requirement would be
enforced beginning September 3. The Coast Guard has now clarified that the
information collection will be enforced as of February 22, 2011, when the
salvage and marine firefighting regulations come into force. 75 Fed. Reg.

WEATHER
Forecast Discussion
A drier pattern to start off the month of August with plenty of heat,
humidity and little if any rain. Today we'll have the best chance of rain
out of the next seven at 30%. The scattered showers will be sparked off by
a minor disturbance working in from the east. Temps top out in the middle
90's today.
Upper level high pressure that has baked much of the country the past
several weeks returns in a big way that will induce a heat wave all across
Texas and much of the south for this week. North Texas may see record
breaking temps with highs approaching 110 degrees!
For us we'll see upper 90's and on Friday we may hit 100, with hotter temps
for the lakes.
The tropics are still active, with a tropical wave east of the Caribbean
islands that will become depression #5 by today.
