Daylight Restricted Vessel Movement Criteria

1.All vessels whose draft is within one foot of the current maximum draft will be restricted to daylight only transits, under normal conditions.

2.All vessels with a beam of 102 feet or greater and/or a length of 725 feet or greater and whose draft is within four (4) feet of the current maximum draft limit shall be restricted to daylight only transits, under normal conditions.

3.All vessels judged unsafe for handling at night will be limited to daylight only transits

NOTICE OF DRAFT REDUCTION:

Effective: 12 January 2009

Due to continued silting and low winter tides it is necessary to reduce the recommended draft of all vessels transiting the Matagorda Ship Channel to a maximum of 34 Feet 00 inches SALTWATER.

All vessels en route to Point Comfort with a draft exceeding 34 feet, saltwater, will be handled on a case by case basis with regards to Tides and Current conditions at the time of arrival.

The pilots will make every attempt to maintain this draft as long as possible while ensuring the safe passage of all deep draft vessels transiting the Matagorda Ship Channel.
