Additional Information

Vessels and barges conducting business at Westlake docks will be attended promptly and safely in Accordance with the following regulations and policies. Your cooperation in these matters will expedite loading and unloading cargo.

  1. All Ships must be docked to load on the starboard side.
  2. Vessels and barges must be moored in a seaman-like manner and must be so maintained at all times. Mooring lines must be kept tight at all times by vessel or barge personnel or loading will be suspended.
  3. Westlake only accepts rope mooring lines.
  4. Mooring must include a Bow and a ft spring line to shore.
  5. Vessels are required to supply their own line handlers, boat, etc.
  6. Vessel must have mate standing at the ship's header while docking.
  7. Each product loading header connection must be identified prior to docking.
  8. Westlake’s boom Height: “A” Dock – 64 feet; “C” Dock – 50 feet
  9. Vessel's crew will be required to make all hose connections and disconnections.
  10. No Smoking on any Westlake ship docks and no alcoholic beverages.
  11. Westlake Safety Policy restricts ship crew member's activities dock side. Ship must contact AXIALL person in charge at dock before crew disembarks vessel.
  12. The discharge of bilge water or slop into the channel is strictly prohibited. Simultaneous discharging of ballast and loading of cargo will be allowed only with the permission of the cargo inspector and the ship's First Mate. Existing pollution control policies make it mandatory for us to notify Louisiana Stream Pollution Control Commission and the United States Coast Guard whenever any violations of rules or spills of oil or chemicals occur.
  13. The use of lights other than those approved by Underwriter's Laboratories is forbidden. This includes the use of open dry cell batteries, wet cell batteries, and unprotected wiring and light bulbs.
  14. The lightering or transfer of any products from one vessel or barge to another vessel or barge while either vessel or barge is tied up at the dock is expressly prohibited. This includes bunkering of vessels and barges.
  15.  Major repairs to vessels and barges while at our docks are not permitted. Minor repairs, involving no hot work, may be made after securing permission from the Manager, Operational Services through the Shipping Superintendent.
  16. The loading or unloading of equipment other than ship's stores is not permitted, except by special request.
  17. Dock side lines and winches may be used by ship personnel for stores only with permission of dock supervision.
  18. Photographing is not permitted in the dock area.
  19. Vessels and barges are expected to sail as soon as possible after loading or unloading operations are completed.
  20. All rules and safe practices prescribed by the U.S. Coast Guard must be observed.
  21. Westlake has no potable water supply for vessels.
  22. Approved type flame screens must be properly inserted and secured in ullage holes at all times while loading.
TWIC CARD CREW LIST & GATELIST REQUIRED SHIP MUST CONTACT AXIALL PERSON IN CHARGE AT DOCK BEFORE CREW DISEMBARKS VESSEL. CREW WITH VALID U.S. VISA ARE ALLOWED SHORE LEAVE AND/OR REPATRIATION DOCK SIDE.
