A morning shower; turning sunny, breezy with the temperature tying the record from 1974; gusty winds, low humidity and dry brush result in a high fire threat.
 
Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
A cold front sweeps across the MA and RI waters Friday afternoon and
evening. It will be a dry frontal passage, with a wind shift to the
west/northwest behind the front. High pressure builds over New
England this weekend and into Monday, yielding dry weather and light
winds. The high moves offshore Tue and Wed, yielding winds shifting
to the southwest and becoming gusty Wednesday, with a low chance for
gales.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.TODAY...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 4 seconds and E 1 foot at
9 seconds.
.TONIGHT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: W 3 ft at 4 seconds and E 1 foot at 9 seconds.
.SAT...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Gusts up to 20 kt in the morning.
Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: NW 3 ft at 4 seconds and N 3 ft at
7 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NE
3 ft at 7 seconds and SW 1 foot at 5 seconds.
.SUN AND SUN NIGHT...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave
Detail: N 2 ft at 6 seconds.
.MON...E winds around 5 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: NE
1 foot at 8 seconds.
.MON NIGHT AND TUE...S winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to
20 kt. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft. A chance of rain.
.TUE NIGHT...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
4 to 6 ft. A chance of rain.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
