Please note below updates as of 0830 hrs March 28th, 2024:
- USCG has verbally advised that it will be a minimum of 2-3 weeks before any port movements resume, however, we suspect the delay will be much more prolonged due to the magnitude of the situation.
- Local Pilots have advised that vessels currently anchored at Annapolis are not movement restricted and are able to sail, provided that USCG and USCBP formalities are completed with each respective agency.
- Local Pilots have advised that Tradepoint Atlantic Terminal is currently not movement restricted. The channel to TPA berth(s) is outside of the USCG Safety Zone presently in effect, subject to change.
As you may have heard the unfortunate events, a container vessel collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the port of Baltimore early morning March 26th. Search and recovery teams are now on site, and Maryland Pilots have advised that all pilot moves in/out of the port have been suspended and they cannot advise when port movements will resume.
We will pass on information concerning resumption of vessel movements as soon as it’s provided to us by the pilots and port authorities.

Effective immediately a safety zone is established for all navigable waters of the Chesapeake Bay within a 2000-yard radius of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. The 948-foot Singapore-flagged vessel DALI struck the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, 2024.
As advised, the above timeline for resuming regular port operations is provided by and speculated basis the information available by local authorities, and we expect this incident will affect port traffic for some time. Therefore, prospective berthing for future vessels is very uncertain.
Our team is closely monitoring this situation and are actively communicating with local authorities and port officials to ensure we are as updated as possible.
We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.

* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 25 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and
seas 4 to 7 ft expected.
* WHERE...Coastal waters from Cape May NJ to Cape Henlopen DE
out 20 nm and Coastal waters from Cape Henlopen to Fenwick
Island DE out 20 nm.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 10 AM EDT Friday.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could
capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...North to northwest winds will increase this
evening with wind gusts near 35 to 40 kt forecast for a few
hours between midnight tonight and mid-morning Friday. Winds
will then diminish slightly with gusts up to 30 kt for the
remainder of Friday.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the
vessel for severe conditions.

.SYNOPSIS FOR THE COASTAL WATERS FROM SANDY HOOK NJ TO FENWICK
ISLAND DE AND FOR DELAWARE BAY...
A slow moving cold front will approach our region from the west
as a wave of low pressure tracks northeastward off the coast
today, resulting in a period of unsettled weather. Weak high
pressure will begin to build in on Friday. A weak clipper
system may move through on Saturday, otherwise fairly quiet and
seasonable conditions will prevail over the weekend. Another
period of rainy weather is expected early next week as low
pressure tracks toward our region from the Ohio Valley.
