Notices

Good Morning,

Please see below information regarding upcoming work on the BGE Key Crossing:

The Key Crossing conductors experienced reliability issues under certain severe weather, wind, and storm events that caused sway issues that have resulted in various customer outages that have impacted service reliability. As a result, BGE has commenced pursuing steps to remediate the conductor sway issues through a multi-phased approach. As a reminder, a temporary engineering solution was developed and implemented to add weights to the conductors on each span and circuit to mitigate the sway issue. This was successfully completed last summer and fall.

“Phase 3” of the mitigation plan includes the installation of interphase spacers to physically separate the phases from each other. The work will be completed via aerial helicopter operations, and we will be utilizing all of the same crews to perform the work as in the past. One circuit will be worked on at a time while the adjacent circuit not being worked on will remain energized.

Installations were safely and successfully completed across the first circuit (2344) this past June. The next planned outage window for the Phase 3 IPS work is scheduled for November 1 – November 29th to install interphase spacers across Circuit 2345. The work will typically occur between 6am and 6pm daily during this timeframe.

As in the past, no channel closures will be required, and the CW Wright construction team will coordinate to accommodate all shipping traffic.
