Currently Airdraft in Corpus Christi, Texas is 138-00 ft
As per latest advice from the Harbor Master, the “old” Harbor Bridge is expected to be taken down starting approx.. October 19-21, 2025 (this is an estimated window)
The New airdraft after removal of the center span is expected to be 165 ft (subject to port authority confirmation)
The Port of Corpus Christi is requesting a 36 hour channel closure from 1500 hrs 19 October to 0300 hrs 21 October as they remove the center span.
Demolition expectations
Flatiron/Dragados, the same contractor behind the construction of the new bridge, will also lead the demolition. Crews will dismantle the main span of the old Harbor Bridge in a controlled, staged sequence. Structural supports will be carefully cut away, then the segment will be lowered onto barges using hydraulic jacks or cranes. This allows safe removal over water while minimizing disruption to the port.
Lowering the main span in one or several large pieces will necessitate a temporary closure of the ship channel-expected this fall. This ensures safety during heavy lifting and barge placement.
