Port Condition: Normal  - All Virginia Waters



SUMMARY: Due to the passage of a severe winter storm, the Coast Guard Sector Virginia Captain of the Port (COTP) has set Port Condition: Normal. Sustained gale force winds (39-54 mph/34-47 knots) are no longer predicted for the area. While some harbors may be impacted by ice, the overall port conditions allow for return to NORMAL Port operations at this time. Winter Port Condition Two remains in effect for several areas in the northern waters of Virginia  as described in MSIB 011-26.

COMMUNICATIONS: Continue to communicate urgent safety of life issues, aids to navigation discrepancies, shoaling, or marine debris reports contact the Sector Virginia Command Center on VHF Channel 16 or call (877) 722-5727.

WEATHER: Mariners are advised to monitor the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service or other weather media outlets as conditions and forecasts may change.  

Port / Terminal Restrictions

RESTRICTIONS: Effective 12 noon Sunday, February 1, 2026, all previously identified Areas of Concern (MSIB 011-26) are open normal traffic.

Channel conditions, navigability concerns, and hazards to navigation, may permit vessel movements, though ice may impact traffic in smaller harbors.
