Good Afternoon,
The Baltimore Maritime Exchange is distributing this message on behalf of NOAA.
Please see details attached and below:
Good afternoon,
We expect ice coverage to continue to decrease day to day across most of the region over the next few days. There are two areas of higher uncertainty in today's analysis:
1) near the mouth of the Delaware Bay - We've seen ice moving out of the bay into the Atlantic over the last several days and the same is happening today, however there is uncertainty regarding the amount of ice outside of the bay/how far out it extends this afternoon due to a lack of high resolution satellite imagery over that region.
2) The lower Chesapeake, particularly along the eastern shore - there has been a large area of 90%+ ice coverage for a few days. We expect this is melting back, but due to a lack of clear imagery there is uncertainty regarding how much melt has occurred over the last day.
Attached is our Mid-Atlantic ice analysis for 02/11.
As a reminder we do not issue Mid-Atlantic products on weekends or holidays. The next outlook will be issued Tuesday 2/17. Ice charts will be issued daily for the remainder of the season.
If you would like to be removed from this distribution or want any additional addresses added, please let us know.
As always if ice does form and you get an observation, our analysts would appreciate that additional information to supplement our satellite data. Any observations can be sent to this address (
