Notices

The National Weather Service is forecasting an increased risk of severe weather and heavy rainfall across the VTS Houston-Galveston area today. A strong storm system will be moving across the region capable of producing severe thunderstorms later this morning into the evening hours.

25-30 knot sustained winds and elevated seas have been reported in the lower Houston Ship Channel and Galveston Bay.
Mariners should take these weather conditions into consideration before beginning or continuing their transits.
Moored and vessels at anchor should verify moorings and anchor readiness, having engines at the ready.
Multi-barge configurations, high/low couplings or vessels with insufficient horsepower should conduct risk assessment prior to making their transit."

Very respectfully,
Vessel Traffic Service
