"At 1100 (local) January 9, 2026, Vessel Traffic Service Houston-Galveston received reports of a chemical smell along Houston Ship Channel. Sulfuric Acid leak is from Lubrizol Deer Park, a facility not along the Houston Ship Channel.
The Houston Channel remains open to vessel movements. Vessels transiting between Battle Grounds and Beltway 8 Bridge should take precautions as southerly winds are bringing the fumes across the Houston Ship Channel."
