Port Alert

Port of Houston, TX

March 07, 2026

Notices

From the National Weather Service:
  • A cold front will slowly move into SE Texas this afternoon from the northwest, then eventually stalling somewhere over the region.
    • The exact timing of the frontal passage will be hard to determine due to the slow-moving nature of the front.
    • Overall, frontal passage timing will be in the afternoon for the College Station area, late this afternoon or during the evening for the I-10 Corridor, and then likely stalling somewhere between the I-10 Corridor and the coast tonight into Sunday.
  • Widespread showers, scattered strong thunderstorms, and isolated severe thunderstorms will develop ahead of and along the cold front.
    • Large hail, damaging winds, and locally heavy rainfall will be possible with the severe thunderstorms.
    • The storms ahead of the front will have a greater risk of large hail, and then the storms along the front will have a greater risk of damaging winds.
  • SPC has a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms for most areas of SE Texas today, with a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) along the coast.
  • The front will remain stalled over SE Texas on Sunday continuing the chance of showers and thunderstorms through morning or early afternoon, but the chance for strong or severe thunderstorms will be lower on Sunday.
