Good Afternoon,

 

National Weather Service has upgraded a winter storm watch to Winter Storm Warning Beginning January 25, 0900  for the areas served by both Block Island Pilots and Northeast Pilots.  Pilots will contineu to closely monitor as storm moves closer. This storm will have significant impact to the area.

 

It would be prudent to expect that closures will occur sometime Prior to the above times and maritime interests should plan accordingly. Vessels which intend to take shelter inside of bays or at berths are encouraged to take action earlier rather than later. Attempts to wait until last minute may well result in service unavailability.

 

Storm conditions are forecasted to last well into monday, significantly effecting safety of travel and offshore operation.

 

We intend to issue an update by mid morning on January 24th as forecasted conditions will be more defined.
