Good afternoon Southern Mass and Rhode Island maritime partners,

 

Please find the attached MSIB regarding the winter storm anticipated to arrive in the area this weekend. There is currently a gale warning and freezing spray warning offshore. Marine weather updates for all areas of Massachusetts and Rhode Island can be found on the NWS website. The Coast Guard encourages mariners to reach out to local harbormasters prior to making final plans for where to seek shelter.

 

The anticipated period of below freezing temperatures is also likely to result in a build up of ice on the waterways. MSIB 10-25 is attached regarding the 2026 ice season. All mariners are strongly encouraged to remain vigilant and report significant ice formations to the Sector Southeastern
