Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Low pres over the Canada Maritimes moves northeast into the northern
Atlantic today, while large high pres over the mid-Atlantic moves
offshore to a position south of the Southern New England waters.
Cold air over the waters may result in accretions of light freezing
spray today and Thurs. High pres then weakens later Thurs as weak
low pres moves over the waters. A somewhat stronger area of low
pressure organizes over the mid-Atlantic waters Fri night and moves
NE over the waters on Sat.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
 
 
.TODAY...NW winds 20 to 25 kt, becoming W 15 to 20 kt this
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to 7 ft. Light freezing
spray.
.TONIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to
6 ft. Light freezing spray.
.THU...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt, diminishing to
15 to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Light freezing
spray.
.THU NIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming
NW 5 to 10 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
.FRI...N winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. A chance of snow.
Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.FRI NIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. A chance of snow. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
