Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Steady 15 to 20 knot west/northwest winds persist over the coastal
waters today with seas gradually subsiding through this afternoon. A
weak-coastal low-pressure system is forecast to produce snowfall over
MA Bay and the south coastal waters early Friday afternoon through
early Saturday. This system will be accompanied by modest
northeasterly winds on Friday that will become north/northwesterly
Friday night into Saturday. Bitter cold temperatures will support
areas of freezing spray through Sunday morning.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
 
 
TODAY...W winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt this
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Light freezing
spray this morning. Scattered flurries this afternoon.
.TONIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt. Gusts up to 25 kt in the evening.
Seas 2 to 4 ft. Scattered flurries.
.FRI...N winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming NE 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. A chance of snow. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.FRI NIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Light freezing
spray. A chance of snow. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.SAT AND SAT NIGHT...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt.
Seas 3 to 5 ft. Light freezing spray.
.SUN...NW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Light freezing spray.
