Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Cold front approaches the waters this morning. Surface low pressure
develops east of the waters while a surface high pressure builds in
from the west. A period of stronger northerly wind gusts is expected
Friday night into Saturday morning. Winds ease, but remain gusty the
rest of the weekend, with small craft headlines likely. Early next
week appears quiet with surface high pressure in place.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
 
TODAY...NW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming N 10 to 15 kt with gusts
up to 20 kt this afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft.
.TONIGHT...N winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft, building to 5 to 7 ft after midnight.
.SAT...N winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 6 to
8 ft.
.SAT NIGHT...N winds 20 to 25 kt. Seas 6 to 9 ft.
.SUN AND SUN NIGHT...N winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt.
Seas 6 to 9 ft.
.MON THROUGH TUE NIGHT...NE winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to
30 kt. Seas 5 to 8 ft.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
