Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
A weak frontal system moves over the waters today, with weak high
pres developing over the waters tonight into Tues. A strong cold
front approaches from the west Wed to bring strong south winds to
the waters. The cold front crosses the waters Wednesday night, which
will shift winds to the northwest and be quite gusty on Thurs. Winds
ease Thurs night as high pres moves in.
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank
National Marine Sanctuary:
.TODAY...SW winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Isolated sprinkles this morning.
.TONIGHT...W winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming SE 5 to 10 kt after
midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
.TUE...S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
3 ft. Patchy fog in the morning with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.TUE NIGHT...S winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt,
increasing to 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt after midnight.
Seas 3 to 5 ft, building to 5 to 7 ft after midnight. A chance of
rain in the evening, then rain after midnight.
.WED...S winds around 30 kt with gusts up to 50 kt. Seas 6 to
9 ft, building to 8 to 11 ft in the afternoon. Rain.
.WED NIGHT...SW winds 30 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50 kt. Seas
9 to 12 ft. Rain likely.
.THU...W winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt. Seas 7 to
10 ft. A chance of snow and rain likely. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.THU NIGHT...NW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas
