Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
A cold front moves south of the waters this morning. High pres
builds over the Maritimes late tonight into Sat. The front south of
New England, then lifts N into the south coastal waters late Sat
night into Sun, as a warm front, followed by a cold front Sun
afternoon and evening. The cold front stalls south of New Eng Sun
night into Mon with a low pres tracking along the front. Another
cold front from the west will cross the waters Tue followed by near
gale force W-NW winds.
 
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.TODAY...NW winds around 10 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at 8 seconds and W 2 ft at 3 seconds.
.TONIGHT...NW winds around 10 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming
NE after midnight. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at
4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds.
.SAT...E winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming SE with gusts up to 20 kt in
the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 4 seconds
and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds. Rain likely in the afternoon with vsby
1 to 3 NM.
.SAT NIGHT...SE winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming S 10 to 15 kt after
midnight. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft
at 6 seconds and S 1 foot at 3 seconds. Rain in the evening, then
showers after midnight. Vsby 1 to 3 NM in the evening.
.SUN...W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 6 seconds and SW 2 ft at 3 seconds.
Showers likely, mainly in the morning.
.SUN NIGHT...NW winds around 10 kt, becoming N with gusts up to
20 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at
7 seconds and NW 2 ft at 3 seconds. Showers.
.MON...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Showers likely.
.MON NIGHT...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft.
.TUE AND TUE NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 35 kt.
Seas 4 to 6 ft. A chance of showers.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height..
