Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
A deep closed upper level low over the Ohio Valley will only slowly
lift northeast though the middle of the week resulting in periods of
showers and isolated thunderstorms. This closed low finally lifts to
our north by Thu. However...a surface low pres system will likely
lift NE from the southeast/mid Atlantic states into our region by
Fri and Sat.
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
.TODAY...E winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
3 ft. Wave Detail: E 3 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
8 seconds. Patchy fog. A chance of showers, mainly this morning.
Vsby 1 NM or less, increasing to 1 to 3 NM this afternoon.
.TONIGHT...E winds around 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 7 seconds. Patchy fog. A chance of
showers after midnight. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.TUE...SE winds around 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 3 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 5 seconds and SE 4 ft at
10 seconds. Patchy fog. A chance of showers in the morning.
Showers likely with a chance of tstms in the afternoon. Some
tstms may produce heavy rainfall in the afternoon. Vsby 1 NM or
less.
.TUE NIGHT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: E 4 ft at 7 seconds and S 1 foot at
4 seconds. Showers. Patchy fog in the evening with vsby 1 NM or
less.
.WED...S winds around 10 kt. Seas 3 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft
at 6 seconds. A chance of showers.
.WED NIGHT...S winds around 10 kt, becoming SW after midnight.
