Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
A quasi-stationary frontal boundary was located over southern New
England early this morning. It will be the focus for periods of
showers and thunderstorms through Thurs before it slips further
southward on Fri. High pres then arrives this weekend.
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
.TODAY...NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SE
2 ft at 7 seconds and E 1 foot at 4 seconds. Patchy fog.
Scattered showers with isolated tstms this morning, then a chance
of showers this afternoon. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...E winds 5 to 10 kt, diminishing to around 5 kt after
midnight. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: SE 2 ft at 7 seconds and
NE 1 foot at 3 seconds. Patchy fog. A chance of showers after
midnight. Vsby 1 NM or less.
.THU...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft. Wave Detail: NE
1 foot at 3 seconds and SE 1 foot at 7 seconds. Patchy fog.
Showers likely. Vsby 1 NM or less, increasing to 1 to 3 NM in the
afternoon.
.THU NIGHT...E winds around 10 kt, becoming NE after midnight.
Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
11 seconds. A chance of showers. Patchy fog in the evening with
vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.FRI...NE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft
at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at 11 seconds.
.FRI NIGHT...SE winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: E
2 ft at 6 seconds and SE 1 foot at 11 seconds.
.SAT THROUGH SUN NIGHT...S winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas around 2 ft.
 
Winds and seas higher in and near tstms.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
