McArdle Bridge Update

MA - BOSTON INNER HARBOR – CHELSEA CREEK – ANDREW P. McARDLE BRIDGE- Bridge Repairs
Mariners are advised that unscheduled bridge deck repairs will be conducted to Andrew P. McArdle Bridge from July 28th, 2025, through August 14th, 2025. Work hours will be 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday. A manlift barge and tending vessel will be moored to the bridge fender system during work hours. Mariners are requested to provide one-hour advanced notice to the on-scene contractor for a bridge opening. On-scene POC Mr. Russell Forest (978) 360-6079 The bridge tender will be on scene during the maintenance period and can be reached via VHF-FM Ch 13. Questions may be directed to the City of Boston Public Works at (617) 635-2220 or Mr. Spencer Kresge (508) 932-7254. Mariners are advised to use caution and plan their transits accordingly.

Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
High pres builds southward from Quebec today and tonight shifting
east of the region Sat. A cold front crosses the region on Sun
followed by another high pres system building down from eastern.
Tropical storm Erin which is expected to become a major Hurricane
this weekend in the open Atlantic will likely pass well E of our
waters later next week. However...large southeast swell may impact
our waters during the upcoming work week.
 
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
TODAY...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 3 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: NE 4 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
4 seconds. Patchy fog this morning with vsby 1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...E winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NE
3 ft at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds.
.SAT...NE winds around 5 kt, becoming SE in the afternoon. Seas
around 2 ft. Wave Detail: E 2 ft at 6 seconds and E 1 foot at
15 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: S 2 ft at 3 seconds and SE 2 ft at
9 seconds.
.SUN...SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to
3 ft. Wave Detail: S 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 10 seconds.
A chance of showers and tstms in the afternoon.
.SUN NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming N after midnight.
Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: NE 5 ft at
6 seconds and SW 3 ft at 4 seconds. Scattered showers. A chance
of tstms in the evening.
.MON...NE winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to
5 ft.
.MON NIGHT THROUGH TUE NIGHT...S winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up
to 20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
 
Winds and seas higher in and near tstms.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
