Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Low pres continues to move E further to sea this morning. A cold
front will cross the region Fri, followed by a large high pres
building in from the N for this weekend.
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
.TODAY...N winds 5 to 10 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft
at 8 seconds. Patchy fog. A chance of showers with a slight
chance of tstms this morning. Patchy drizzle this afternoon. Vsby
1 NM or less.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W after midnight. Seas
2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at 7 seconds and SW 2 ft at
3 seconds. Patchy fog. Vsby 1 to 3 NM, decreasing to 1 NM or less
after midnight.
.FRI...NW winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming N in the afternoon. Seas
2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at 7 seconds and W 2 ft at
3 seconds.
.FRI NIGHT...N winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt after
midnight. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: N 4 ft
at 4 seconds and SE 2 ft at 7 seconds.
.SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, diminishing
to 5 to 10 kt in the afternoon. Seas 2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: N
4 ft at 5 seconds and SE 2 ft at 8 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...SE winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SW after midnight.
Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: N 2 ft at 5 seconds and SE 1 foot at
8 seconds.
.SUN THROUGH MON NIGHT...SW winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to
20 kt. Seas 2 to 4 ft.
Winds and seas higher in and near tstms.
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
