Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Weak high pres builds over the waters today. A cold front will push
S of the waters by late Tue, then strong high pres will build from
eastern Canada into New Eng Wed through Fri. This high pres will
keep Humberto well offshore, but Humberto will bring increasing
southerly swell to the waters Tue and Wed, lingering into Thu,
with near gale force NE winds late Tue night into Wed night.
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
.TODAY...N winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming SW this afternoon. Seas
2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: SE 3 ft at 11 seconds and N 2 ft at
3 seconds.
.TONIGHT...SW winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming W after midnight. Seas
2 to 4 ft. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 14 seconds and NE 1 foot at
3 seconds.
.TUE...N winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming NE 10 to 15 kt with gusts up
to 20 kt in the afternoon. Seas 3 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: SE 5 ft
at 14 seconds and NE 2 ft at 4 seconds.
.TUE NIGHT...NE winds 15 to 20 kt, increasing to 20 to 25 kt
after midnight. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 3 to 5 ft, building to
5 to 7 ft after midnight. Wave Detail: SE 4 ft at 14 seconds and
NE 3 ft at 4 seconds, becoming NE 7 ft at 6 seconds and SE 4 ft
at 14 seconds.
.WED...NE winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: NE 8 ft at 7 seconds and SE 4 ft at
14 seconds.
.WED NIGHT...NE winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas
6 to 9 ft. Wave Detail: NE 8 ft at 7 seconds and SE 4 ft at
15 seconds.
