Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
Gale force W wind gusts continue today. Weak high pres builds south
of the waters tonight into Sat allowing winds to diminish. A weak
wave of low pres tracks south of our waters Sat night into Sun
morning. This will be followed by the passage of an arctic cold
front late Sun with another round of gale force NW wind gusts on
Mon. High pres then builds south of the waters Tue.
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING...
.TODAY...W winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
8 ft. Wave Detail: W 8 ft at 6 seconds and SE 1 foot at
10 seconds.
.TONIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 35 kt,
diminishing to 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt after midnight.
Seas 4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: W 6 ft at 6 seconds.
.SAT...SW winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: W 3 ft at 4 seconds and E
1 foot at 8 seconds.
.SAT NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt, diminishing to 10 to 15 kt
after midnight. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail:
SW 3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 1 foot at 10 seconds. Snow likely
after midnight with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.SUN...NW winds 10 to 15 kt, becoming N 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. Wave Detail: NW
3 ft at 4 seconds and SE 1 foot at 9 seconds. Snow likely. Vsby
1 NM or less.
.SUN NIGHT...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas
5 to 7 ft. Wave Detail: N 7 ft at 6 seconds and E 4 ft at
10 seconds. A chance of snow in the evening, then a chance of
snow showers after midnight. Vsby 1 NM or less, increasing to
1 to 3 NM after midnight.
.MON...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft.
.MON NIGHT...W winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
3 to 5 ft.
.TUE AND TUE NIGHT...W winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt.
Seas 2 to 4 ft.
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
