Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
High pres builds S of the waters tonight, then a warm front moves
into the southern waters Tue with showers. Low pres develops on the
front south of New Eng Tue night and moves offshore while deepening
into a Gale center well E of New Eng on Wed. A cold front will drop
S across New Eng Thu and set up south of the waters Thu night and
Fri. Low pres is expected to develop to the west on Fri and may
track along this front S of the waters Fri night into Sat.
 
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
..GALE WATCH IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...
 
.TODAY...W winds 5 to 10 kt, becoming S this afternoon. Seas
around 2 ft. Wave Detail: NW 2 ft at 5 seconds and E 1 foot at
10 seconds. A chance of rain this morning, then rain this
afternoon. Patchy fog this afternoon with vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.TONIGHT...SE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt, becoming
W 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt after midnight. Seas 2 to
4 ft. Wave Detail: SW 3 ft at 3 seconds and SE 3 ft at 4 seconds.
Patchy fog. Rain, mainly in the evening. Vsby 1 NM or less,
increasing to 1 to 3 NM after midnight.
.WED...N winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 40 kt. Seas 5 to
7 ft. Wave Detail: N 7 ft at 7 seconds and E 5 ft at 9 seconds. A
chance of rain. Patchy fog in the morning.
.WED NIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt, becoming
W around 10 kt after midnight. Seas 5 to 7 ft. Wave Detail: E
7 ft at 9 seconds and N 6 ft at 6 seconds.
.THU...W winds 10 to 15 kt, increasing to 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: E 6 ft
at 10 seconds and W 4 ft at 4 seconds.
.THU NIGHT...NW winds 20 to 25 kt with gusts up to 30 kt. Seas
4 to 5 ft. Wave Detail: N 5 ft at 6 seconds and E 5 ft at
11 seconds.
.FRI...N winds 15 to 20 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 4 to
5 ft.
.FRI NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas
6 to 9 ft. A chance of snow. Vsby 1 to 3 NM.
.SAT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20 kt. Seas 7 to
10 ft. A chance of snow.
.SAT NIGHT...E winds around 10 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. A chance of
rain and snow.
 
Seas are reported as significant wave height, which is the
average of the highest third of the waves. Individual wave
heights may be more than twice the significant wave height.
