Synopsis for Massachusetts and Rhode Island coastal waters:
 
Low pres shifts east of the region tonight as it intensifies. This
increasing pressure gradient will result in Gale forecast NNW winds
developing by daybreak Wed and continuing into the afternoon. High
pres builds in from the west late Wed into Wed night. This will be
followed by a strong cold front late Thu into Thu night. A wave of
low pres should then pass to our south late Fri into Sat with a
ridge of high pres building in from the west by Sun.
 
 
Coastal waters east of Ipswich Bay and the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary:
 
...GALE WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...
 
.TODAY...NW winds 25 to 30 kt, becoming N this afternoon. Gusts
up to 40 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft, building to 7 to 10 ft this
afternoon. Wave Detail: W 5 ft at 5 seconds and E 2 ft at
6 seconds, becoming E 9 ft at 8 seconds and NW 5 ft at 5 seconds.
Patchy fog. A chance of showers this morning, then showers likely
this afternoon. Vsby 1 to 3 NM, decreasing to 1 NM or less this
afternoon.
.TONIGHT...N winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming W 10 to 15 kt after
midnight. Gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 7 to 9 ft, subsiding to 5 to
7 ft after midnight. Wave Detail: E 9 ft at 9 seconds and N 3 ft
at 6 seconds, becoming E 7 ft at 9 seconds and N 1 foot at
5 seconds.
.THU...SW winds 15 to 20 kt, becoming NW 20 to 25 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 6 ft. Wave Detail: E 6 ft
at 10 seconds and W 5 ft at 4 seconds.
.THU NIGHT...NW winds 25 to 30 kt with gusts up to 35 kt. Seas
6 to 9 ft. Wave Detail: N 9 ft at 7 seconds and E 4 ft at
10 seconds.
.FRI...N winds 20 to 25 kt, diminishing to 15 to 20 kt in the
afternoon. Gusts up to 30 kt. Seas 5 to 8 ft. Wave Detail: N 8 ft
at 7 seconds and E 2 ft at 10 seconds.
.FRI NIGHT...NE winds 10 to 15 kt. Seas 4 to 5 ft. Wave Detail:
NE 5 ft at 8 seconds and E 4 ft at 12 seconds. A chance of snow
after midnight.
